The Nonprofit Risk Management Center provides assistance and resources for nonprofit organizations. As a nonprofit, the Center understands and responds to questions with practical, affordable suggestions for controlling risks that threaten a nonprofit’s ability to accomplish its mission. The Center’s mission is to help nonprofits cope with uncertainty. They offer a wide range of services (e.g., technical assistance, training, consulting help) on a vast array of risk management topics (e.g., employment practices, internal controls). They do not sell insurance or endorse organizations that do.
They provide free technical assistance by telephone or e-mail to nonprofit staff and volunteers, they produce affordable and easy-to-read publications, and they offer easy-to-use online tools that help agencies create sound policies, develop risk management and financial management plans, and more. They also publish a “Risk Management Essentials” newsletter, which is distributed to thousands of nonprofits three times each year. They design and deliver workshops at events and conferences, they sponsor regional conferences on risk management each Spring, and they hold an annual conference each Fall. Finally, they offer competitively priced consulting services, including risk assessments.
